My current insurance doesn’t cover the medications that Calibrate doctors prescribe. What types of plans typically do?
Our team is committed to working with your insurance to help you get GLP-1 medications covered by insurance at a low cost. We guarantee that the cost of your GLP-1 medication with insurance will be $25/month or less after any deductible is met, or you’re eligible for a refund minus the cost of your first doctor visit ($249). Our Medication Coverage Guarantee is designed to help all of our members sign up with confidence. See terms here.
We’re currently not able to accept members who are uninsured, or who are covered by government insurance (including Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare), or with Kaiser plans. We’ve found that these plans do not typically cover the medications that your Calibrate medical team will prescribe.
If you want to join Calibrate and are looking to sign up for a different insurance plan during Open Enrollment, here are characteristics of plans that typically cover the medications that Calibrate doctors prescribe:
- Commercial insurance (e.g. Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc.) that you receive through an employer (excluding Kaiser plans)
- If you choose a high deductible plan, choose one with a deductible that you'll be able to meet (you’ll need to pay through any deductible before your plan will start covering the medication)
If you’d like to confirm that your commercial/employer insurance plan covers the medications that Calibrate doctors order/prescribe before joining Calibrate, you can reach out directly to your insurer and ask the following question:
- Does my plan cover GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide) medications? If not, is step therapy an option?
If we are unable to help you secure GLP-1 coverage at $25/month or less (after any deductible is hit), we can end your program and issue a refund before you fill your first month’s medication per our Medication Coverage Guarantee.
